15ml tube of theatre blood from "Fantasy Make-up".
There are several different ways of making “blood” for murder mystery events. The easiest and cheapest option, and the one we tend to use ourselves when putting on performances, is to mix tomato ketchup with a few drops of red food colouring and one or two drops of blue to give it that dark red blood-like appearance.
The only difficulty with this is that a) it stains and b) it smells of tomato ketchup! Usually most fabrics will wash clean on a hot wash, but it takes the actors around 12 hours to completely lose the stain from their skin.
If you wanted to lose the tomato ketchup scent then it is possible to mix red and blue food colouring into corn/maple/sugar syrup ” however that makes you sticky too and doesn't solve the staining problem, the created blood also flows quite differently.
This theatre blood is a water soluble alternative to the more staining ideas above, although you still need to avoid contact with eyes and fabric.
Ingredients: Alcohol Denat, Aqua, VP/VA Copolymer, glycerin, talc, Silica, Tromethamine, carbomer.
Unfortunately it isn't cheap to buy ” so unless you really have an aversion to ketchup we'd usually recommend using that.
That said, we do try to provide a “total service” so ” we've found a supplier of theatre blood ” and so here it is for all you would-be assassins!
Enjoy!
