The Hound of the Biskervilles (Character Based - Large group) 20.99

It is 1889. Sir Charles Biskerville has been found dead in the garden of his ancestral home. There are no murder weapons and no footprints, only the paw prints of a gigantic hound some twenty yards away. Speculation is rife that there is canine involvement. Legend has it that the Biskerville family is cursed and that a terrifying dog haunts the moor. Has this luminous, ghastly and spectral beast struck again?

The doctor that attended the scene believes that the baronet died of a heart attack brought on by shock but the question that everyone must answer is this. What did Sir Charles see on that dark, fateful night?

The Cast:

Essential Cast

  • Hemlock Soames - Efficient in his own peculiar way, Hemlock Soames has an unusual method of solving crimes ” he involves everyone!

  • Sir Henry Biskerville - Lord of Biskerville Hall.
Henry is the cousin of the late Sir Charles Biskerville but can he avoid the curse that has beset his family for generations or will he meet the same fate?

  • Dr. Whats-On - Hemlock Soames' friendly sidekick.
Dr. Whats-On is a medical man with investigative pretensions.

  • Mr. Rodger Stapledon - Eccentric naturalist and collector of butterflies.
Stapledon carries a butterfly net and jars about his person. He'd have you in his net if he could!

  • Miss Beryl Stapledon - Rodger Stapledon's sister.
Wild, beautiful and melancholic, Miss Stapledon flits about the moor like a fragile butterfly.

  • Flora Fly-Off - A local beauty.
Flora is quite feisty and will not be intimated by anyone. She also has a secretive streak and no one is ever sure what she's thinking.

  • Daisy Droppitt - Clumsy housemaid.
Daisy has an engaging charm, but watch it, she's nobody's fool!

Optional Cast:
  • Hurrymore - Sir Henry's butler.
A bit deaf and very slow, Hurrymore has the subdued manner of a well trained servant.

  • Mrs Mangles - Owner of Ross and Mangles, the dog dealers on Fulham Road.
A cockney with a heart but it's a heart of steel, make no mistake about it!

  • Seldom - Escaped convict who is hiding on the moor.
Seldom speaks with a cockney accent, but this low-life is no pearly king, he's more of a knave.

  • Mrs Hurrymore - Butler's wife and housekeeper of Biskerville Hall.
Mrs. Hurrymore is not a very cheerful character, weeping and sighing into her hanky.

  • Dr. James Cautimore - Respected country doctor.
Absent-minded and bumbling, Dr Cautimore wears tweed and always carries a walking stick.

  • Mrs Cautimore - Doctor's wife.
Mrs Cautimore is very matronly and very fond of gossip!

Never run a large group mystery before? Then don't panic!

Hosting a Large Group Murder Mystery is time consuming, but with ample preparation and a good cast it is really quite simple and great fun!

In large group games it is impossible to give everyone a part, instead the mystery involves “cast members” who are fully in the know and act out the mystery, and the guests act as detectives trying to solve the murder.

Large group games come in several different formats, clue based, cast based, multi-room, single room, or a mixture of them all.

This particular game requires 7-13 cast, and one large room. It also has an option of a series of paper clues. Guests will also need paper and pens. This game works best as a sit down event with 6-12 tables of guests who work as a team, but the game can be adapted to suit most formats of events.

The game contains two options. Option 1: All clues are provided by cast members. Option 2: Guests receive questions to ask the suspects (cast members) on paper, and have to find out the answers to these questions from the cast.
