After dinner speakers are always hard to come by. Even in Oxbridge with the university close by, few are prepared to give a talk that is of any interest to outsiders.

Fortunately, there is one man who does have something unique to talk about, and not only that, but he is more than willing to talk about it: Professor Colin Fipmacintyre ”“ the head of the Archaeology faculty.

His favourite topic “The Curse of the Sultan's Pyjamas”� has been well received in many dinner venues, especially as he brings along his own prop ”“ the Sultan's Pyjamas jewel itself!

Unfortunately, tonight the talk is cut short. Just a few minutes into his planned speech Colin Fipmacintyre drops dead in full view of the assembled diners.

With the building sealed off by the police, it now looks as though the after dinner entertainment will be solving the case instead!

The question is: can anyone solve the case before the curse claims another victim?

This murder mystery can be used as either a sequel or prequel to the popular "Sultan's Pyjamas" or as a stand alone mystery. Guests need not have played the "Sultan's Pyjamas" before to understand the plot or enjoy the game.

• Detective Inspector I. B. Clueless ”“ The policeman sent to solve the crime
  Efficient in his own peculiar way, Ian Buchanan Clueless has an unusual method of solving crimes ”“ he involves everyone! If anything he is more like a bungling detective than a methodical one, but it has to be said, he does get results.



• Professor Colin Fipmacintyre ”“ University dean
  A typical university professor with black gown covering a suit, Professor Fipmacintyre is a male chauvinist with a commanding presence and is a well rehearsed and confident speaker.
  
  Colin Fipmacintyre is the first victim of the evening and can be played by the person who plays IB Clueless with a quick change of clothing and facial / headgear props.



• Sandra Fipmacintyre ”“ Colin's wife
  The immaculately presented wife of Colin Fipmacintyre, Sandra enjoys the privileges Colin's position brings and has worked hard to achieve her high social standing.



• Dr Sheila Fielding ”“ University lecturer
  Stern and studious, Dr Sheila Fielding has risen through the ranks of the university through sheer hard work and determination.



• Justin Tomlinson ”“ Archaeologist
  Just back from the field, Justin Tomlinson has attended his uncle's talk this evening to show his continued support. He tends to wear a jacket and trousers rather than a formal suit.



• Ethan Fawkes ”“ Archaeologist
  A dashing dilettante who took up archaeology purely for something to do, Ethan managed to obtain university funding for a dig in Egypt, but in actual fact has used the money to fund a lavish way of life in Cairo.



• Shona Donaldson ”“ Head of the Student's Union
  An angry, sarcastic young woman, Shona Donaldson dresses in drab, unflattering clothing and objects to just about anything on principle.



• Fabien Yahoui ”“ Businessman and university sponsor
  A charming French businessman, Fabien Yahoui has sponsored the university for many years and has a close friendship with the Fipmacintyres.

Never run a large group mystery before? Then don't panic!

Hosting a Large Group Murder Mystery is time consuming, but with ample preparation and a good cast it is really quite simple and great fun!

In large group games it is impossible to give everyone a part, instead the mystery involves “cast members”� who are fully in the know and act out the mystery, and the guests act as detectives trying to solve the murder.

Large group games come in several different formats, clue based, cast based, multi-room, single room, or a mixture of them all.

This particular game requires 7-8 cast (who are fully in the know), use of 1 large room with stage area, and some prop clues.

This mystery requires advance preparation, the more notice you have, and the more preparation and effort you put in to running the mystery, the better it will run for your guests.

Two "murders" occur during the event.

Your guests play the role of detectives. You can have any number of detectives for this mystery, your only limit is the size of your room, and the time you have available.
