Whether you are a looking for a small group dinner party or a murder mystery for a large number of people then we have what you need.
Many private parties have already enjoyed our murder mystery packages and some have also sent in photographs to let others see the fun they’ve had. Here is a selection from our reviews:
Just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you so very much for all your help and support with "Another One Bites the Dust". As you know, I purchased the game to run for my son’s 18th birthday on Monday 6th June and it was a complete, resounding, marvellous success!! We did manage to have eight players in the end despite major fallout along the way, and the whole evening was first class in every respect. The young people entered into the spirit with gusto (and alcohol!) and the mystery was solved by four of them! Various comments on Facebook the following day included "Awesome - never been to anything like it before and it was amazing", and "the best 18th birthday party ever". I have attached some pictures which I hope you will enjoy! So, once again, thank you so very much - we are now just trying to think up an excuse to host another one - we like the sound of Holdit City - we will definitely be back!Suzi Rollason
Well, we ran our party on Saturday night - I am only just recovering! - so am now ready to write and say a big thank you.
We had such fun! I have to say some ’warming’ cocktails helped allay some of the first few minutes nerves, but after that people really got into their parts. I never realised how many budding thespians were numbered amongst my friends! And all the time it turned out my husband was the culprit!
Your tips and hints really helped. I have had messages from all 8 couples saying how much they enjoyed it, we had a wonderful time. The script made for lots of laughs without the need for sleuthing too much, and a fun time was had by all.
Feel free to use my remarks on your website - we would certainly use you again, and thanks again for all the extra help you were happy to give, it was much appreciated.Abi and Jon
Had a wonderful weekend retreat with a church group of 31. We did Murder at the Manse with a cast of 6 for our Saturday night dinner. The cast came dressed in character and Richard Branston even brought Branston pickles as prizes.
Everyone wore fancy hats to get in the mood. Eve Stropper played her part so well that each team thought she did it or should have if she did not....Great fun.Kathleen Smith
This was yet another brilliant evening!
The plot was as inspired as ever and the attention to detail quite superb. The whole experience is really something to behold - again it was gripping, again it was incredibly enjoyable and again the brilliant writing can lead you into a multitude of conclusions. Yet which is the correct theory?
A perfect evening’s entertainment - thank you Red Herring Games yet again! Matt Storey
Just returned from holiday in France and the highlight was Murder on the Disoriented Express. For some it was their first time, all enjoyed due to the information and audio tracks provided. The attached photo shows the enthusiasm generated by the information provided, this was left in visitors book. If this is an example of your products we must try more. Alec Asker
Great game. I had never taken part in a murder mystery before and i had a ball ---- such a laugh! Other members of our group had far more experineced with "murders" and said it was one of the best scripts they had tried. Many thanks. Alex Llewellyn
A really fun game.
The character booklets had a good balance between scripted conversation and improvised. It was very clear how to tackle the improvised sections and even the shyest member of the party was getting in to it by the third round.
Unlike other games I have played, it wasn’t at all noticeable that there were "extra" characters as everyone was equally included.
During the game it became pretty obvious what the murder weapon was (perhaps too obvious?) so it was nice to feel like we’d worked it out although there remained a little twist that none of us had fully foreseen. I’d definitely consider purchasing a game again. Ruth McNicholl
Louise, my delightful god-daughter, phoned me from darkest Kent: "Can I have my 13th birthday party in London?" "Yes!", I said "Can I bring my friends?". Don’t you, just sometimes feel you’ve walked onto a sucker punch? I decided to do it properly; personalised t-shirts, helium balloons, themes etc etc. They came for a 2-day sleepover and on the Saturday evening after the compulsory visits to Camden Lock they found I’d turned the dining room into Hollywood with some room decorations and posters and we had a gala 7-course dinner awards ceremony.
The Oscar for "Best carpet painter" had a number of nominations - 13 yr-olds are keen decorators but a bit sloppy with the roller. ... of course everyone won an Oscar, engraved with their name and nomination. "Orangest Oompa Loompa" going to the girl who’d had a spectacular accident with some hair dye a few weeks previously. It had mostly washed out by the time of the party.
I decided to be chef, set up 2 tables banquet style, and was found murdered in the toilet just after the first course. My daughter in her 20’s played the 8th girl and her husband was a dinner jacketed emcee and also played the detective. But it would have gone fine regardless. The plot’s great, and after a little initial nervousness, I tell you, this bunch of teens really got into the parts.
The plot really lent itself to having the awards ceremony AND the murder mystery all going on at the same time and this flexibility in the design of games from this site made it a no-brainer to use this plot. Additionally the owner of the site was really helpful in indicating which plot would work best for a gaggle of teen girls. She was right. It worked brilliantly and apparently the party as a whole has been the talk of Louise’s class for a week. It’s the 2nd murder mystery I’ve used from red Herring. I don’t plan to go elsewhere for the third. John Probst
So enjoyable and fun! I just attended “The Redbud Garden Club Murder”. The script was very well written and the names of the characters were also quite clever. I would recommend this party to anyone wishing to have a good time with family or friends in an all girl afternoon or evening! Robin Titus
I came across this item while searching for party ideas for my son’s 9th birthday, and am delighted I did.
The downloaded files gave us everything we needed, including instructions on how to run the mystery games, clues to print out, and even food and decoration suggestions. A benefit of this format was also that they were flexible enough to allow us to alter a few things to better fit in with the space we had available, or reword a few clues to keep the kids out of the cutlery drawers!
The games can be printed straight out, or with a little bit of effort and coloured paper and card, you can soon have a pile of impressive looking scales, footprints and scrolls.
Also, a couple of queries that we did have were very quickly resolved via very friendly emails from Red-Herring.
We (two adults) ran the party for 8 children aged from 6 to 9 (mix of girls and boys) - and it was well worth the preparation we did in advance (although would have required less advance prep if more adults) - and we both thoroughly enjoyed our roles in the adventure.
There was enough variety in the puzzles and events that all the children enjoyed at least part of the adventure - and by getting them to all work as a team rather than against each other, they all felt involved and pleased they had solved the mystery ... unlike a game of musical chairs or pass the parcel where only one person is the winner.
One child happily announced at the end, that it was the best Knights-themed party he had ever been too ... although after a confused look crossed his face, he did admit that it was probably also the first.
After the last child had gone home, our 6 year old daughter immediately announced she wanted a party like that for her birthday, and set off around the house to replace all the clues so she could play the games again!
