Welcome to St. Frideswide's in Midwynter Magna, a gem of a 13th century church set in a small village in the heart of the pretty Cotswolds' countryside.

Everyone is excitedly preparing for the church's 750th anniversary. Serious fund-raising is underway and representatives of the local community and church are attending the opening night of the festivities at St. Frideswide's Church Hall. All the important people from the village are there. Unfortunately, so is a murderer!

Midwynter Magna may seem to be the kind of traditional village where everyone wants to live, but it's also a village where people don't seem to live as long as they would like. In fact they seem to be dying rather suddenly.

Tragically, the Rev. Neil Down is poisoned in the middle of his opening address and when D.I. Barney Bee arrives to investigate, he finds that a multiplicity of motives abounds among the guests. Before the night is over, another body is found at the foot of the tower stairs.

The challenge for the remaining guests is to discover the identity of the murderer before anyone else dies.

  Efficient in his own peculiar way, D.I. Barney Bee has an unusual method of solving crimes ”“ he involves everyone!



• Rev. Neil Down ”“ vicar of St. Frideswide's.
  Soberly dressed and softly spoken, Neil Down always acts in a calm and measured way. He is a solid and serious man, unmarried and doted upon by the female members of his congregation. (Neil dies in round 1, so with a quick change of clothes, he can also play the Inspector.) .



• Lady Lavish ”“ impoverished but genteel member of the congregation.
  Apparently an elderly, upper-class lady who has fallen on hard times, Lady Lavish stands upon her dignity and is always dressed elegantly in expensive clothes, although not of the latest fashion. .



• Phil Pockets ”“ self-made businessman/woman (male or female).
  Phil Pockets, a self-made man/woman and proud of it, wears flash clothes with flamboyant accessories and plenty of bling. He/she is inclined to give himself/herself plenty of airs and graces and uses French phrases pretentiously in an atrocious accent. .



• Lorna Lovelace ”“ Church Secretary.
  Quiet and mousy, awkward, clumsy and completely lacking in self-confidence, Lorna Lovelace dresses in a frumpy way, which makes her look older than she is. .



• Gerri Bilde ”“ Italian owner of a construction firm (male or female).
  Charming, well-groomed and immaculately dressed, Gerri oozes Italian style and elegance, as well as passion and exuberance. Her/his impeccable manners make her/him popular with everyone. .



• Carol Singer ”“ choir member & Treasurer of Fund-Raising Committee.
  Carol Singer is a practical, plain-spoken, sensibly-dressed, middle-aged woman, who. has looked after her invalid mother for many years. Despite her brusque exterior, she is a loyal friend and very concerned if others seem unhappy. .



• Max Powers ”“ local councillor & Chairman of the Planning Department Committee (male or female).
  Well educated, smooth and a very cool customer, Max is used to getting his/her own way. He/she is dressed in a smart suit and never seen without his glossy leather executive briefcase.

Never run a large group mystery before? Then don't panic!

Hosting a Large Group Murder Mystery is time consuming, but with ample preparation and a good cast it is really quite simple and great fun!

In large group games it is impossible to give everyone a part, instead the mystery involves “cast members”� who are fully in the know and act out the mystery, and the guests act as detectives trying to solve the murder.

Large group games come in several different formats, clue based, cast based, multi-room, single room, or a mixture of them all.

This particular game requires 7 cast (who are fully in the know), use of 1 large room with stage area, and several prop clues.

This mystery requires advance preparation, the more notice you have, and the more preparation and effort you put in to running the mystery, the better it will run for your guests.

One murder occurs before the guests arrive and one during the event.

Your guests play the role of detectives. You can have any number of detectives for this mystery, your only limit is the size of your room, and the time you have available.
